The body in dance practice – as it has been highlighted in Cultural Studies – is a phenomenal point of view on the world, a place where social normativity produces its political doctrines and moral dogmas. Against these hegemonies, we rethink vulnerability and resistance through the body: dance massively represents subversion, shaping a resistance statement against power. The ritualisation of a practice in the creative process inscribes the motion of the body as a gesture of protest, as a subversive edge: dance is political when it attacks gender normativity, rethinking distinctive norms and conventions. According to this practice, establishing a community is not the primary goal, but a precondition for the performative events to take place. The ballroom in the beginning of the Twentieth Century and Voguing’s spread in the Eighties are suitable examples for a crystallised ritual (in LGBTQ+ community). Thereby, this study proposes the presentation of a panel based on the body as an agent of making and unmaking rituals of resistance. The case study is clubbing, as a space where the ritualization of movements, interactions and aesthetics overtly express an opposition to the outside world.

Abstract
The case study is clubbing, as a space where the ritualization of movements, interactions and aesthetics overtly express an opposition to the outside world.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
