Marcello Pogolotti is considered one of the greatest Cuban artists and intellectuals of the twentieth century. Of Italian origin (his father was from Giaveno), he lived for a long time in Paris and in Turin where he frequented the group of Turin futurists (Fillia, Prampolini, Oriani etc.). Nevertheless, his work is mostly unknown in Italy; the contribution intends to propose a first and partial reconstruction of relations with European artists and intellectuals and the influence they exerted on his artistic production, based on the text of his autobiography, Del Barro y las voces, published in 1968).
