This paper presents an interdisciplinary approach based on the connection between semiotics and cultural geography to explore the meaning-making of the built environment. To do so, it first completes a review on the semiotic and cultural geographical literature on the built environment. It then outlines the theoretical and methodological approach connecting semiotics and cultural geography on the basis of which to treat the meaning-making and interpretation of the built environment.

It then outlines the theoretical and methodological approach connecting semiotics and cultural geography on the basis of which to treat the meaning-making and interpretation of the built environment.
