SAUSAGE-SELLER VS PAFLAGON, PHILOCLEON VS BDELYCLEON: ALTERNATIVE POLITICAL PROJECTS AND JURIDICAL-INSTITUTIONAL CONTINUITY IN CLASSICAL ATHENS From the exegesis and historical interpretation of Knights and Wasps we can describe a wide articulation of political issues, a wide variety of opposing political choices that we have no reason to trace back to the opposition between a democratic and an oligarchic thought: rather we can read it in terms of pluralism in the political elaboration of democracy, of self-critique of political practices, of articulated discussion that does not express but generates that critique of democracy that, only later, becomes the origin of elaborate antidemocratic thought.
