In the mystical laude by Jacopone da Todi short syntagms are often repeated – it is a strong stylistic trait of this poetry. Series of "Amor, Amore", or "Amor, Iesù" are concentrated in certain points of texts, in which the subject tries to describe the indescribable object of the mystical love. First Polish translations of Jacopone da Todi date back to the late nineteenth century, but the interest in the writings of this author is mainly twentieth-century. The aim of my contribution is to analyze the Polish translation of the final part of the lauda "Amor de caritate, perché mi’ai ssì feruto?" as it was presented in "Antologia mistyków franciszkańskich" edited by Salezy Kafel and published in 1986. The mentioned final part will be examined in order to understand how the Polish translation, which also is an adaptation, reflects the taste of a twentieth-century Christian reader. We will also demonstrate that certain transformations proposed by the translator are related to the English translation of the same lauda published by Theodore Beck in 1919.

Abstract
We will also demonstrate that certain transformations proposed by the translator are related to the English translation of the same lauda published by Theodore Beck in 1919.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
