Southern Italy represents more than just a theme in Iwaszkiewicz’s writing. It is a place of choice where it was possible for the writer to return to himself, to his artistic and autobiographical origins. It represents the manifestation of desire and the possibility of its fulfilment through words. In Sicily, in particular, the writer could rediscover the dimension of the lost Ukraine of childhood. The essay explores these issues by relating the writer’s poetics and Weltanschauung to certain ideological cornerstones of Nietzsche’s philosophy: in particular, the concepts of Apollonian and Dionysian.

Abstract
Southern Italy represents more than just a theme in Iwaszkiewicz’s writing. It is a place of choice where it was possible for the writer to return to himself, to his artistic and autobiographical origins. It represents the manifestation of desire and the possibility of its fulfilment through words. In Sicily, in particular, the writer could rediscover the dimension of the lost Ukraine of childhood. The essay explores these issues by relating the writer’s poetics and Weltanschauung to certain ideological cornerstones of Nietzsche’s philosophy: in particular, the concepts of Apollonian and Dionysian.File in questo prodotto:
