We are delighted to present the special issue of the Computer Law and Security Review, titled "FinTech and the Law: A Reality Check." This publication is the outcome of a collaborative initiative that began in December 2022 with the conference, "Financial Technology, Financial Inclusion, and Competition Policy: Legal and Economic Approaches," held at Collegio Carlo Alberto in Turin. Over two days, 15 academics gathered to discuss the transformative impact of financial technology (FinTech) on global financial markets. The conference focused on the reasons behind FinTech’s sustained prominence and the disruption of traditional business models.
