In the last decades, arthroscopic indications for treatment of traumatic pathology of the main joints have increased considerably. Nowadays, several traumatic intra and extra-articular hip pathologies are amenable to arthroscopic treatment. The most common intra-articular indications for hip arthroscopy are: extraction of loose bodies or small intrarticular fragments, labral sutures, condral injuries, reduction and fixation of femoral head or posterior wall fractures, capsulorraphy and cam resection in neck fracture sequaele. Whereas, Anterior-Inferior Iliac Spine avulsion and proximal hamstring injuries are the most common extra-articular indications for arthroscopic/endoscopic treatment. The results of these treatments are strictly related to the amount of articular damages suffered during the trauma and by well-known risk factors such as the time before the reduction of a hip dislocation. Currently, evidences in literature about arthroscopic treatment in traumatic patients, are limited to small case series but the results are encouraging. Further randomized studies would be necessary to better justify the choice of arthroscopic treatment in traumatic pathologies of the hip.
