The paper focuses on the genesis of the first printed edition of the homily In mulieres unguentiferas by Gregory of Antioch (PG 88, coll. 1848-1866), which appeared in a Latin translation by Achilles Statius (Rome 1578). On the basis of common errors it clearly emerges that the humanist translated the Greek text starting from the ms. Vall. gr. 100 (XVth cent.).
