The article focuses on the G2-Second Generations Network, an association founded by daughters and sons of immigrants born and/or raised in Italy. The network is a paradigmatic case of counter-politics. Starting from an analysis of the contradictions of the Italian model of citizenship, the article traces the path of failed reforms in this area, with particular refer- ence to the issue of recognising the status of people born in Italy. Finally, it reconstructs the history, objectives and organisational characteristics of the G2-Second Generations network, highlighting its interactions and overlaps with other subjectivities that emerged later on the scene, in particular Black Lives Matter.
