The article discusses two instances of cross-cultural contacts between Latin and Greek culture where Constantinople and Cyprus play a major role. The frescoes of the Kalenderhane Camii (ca. 1249) are close to the miniature style of a group of manuscript copied in Acre or Cyprus. From the point of view of structure, they to a tight network that allowed the circulation of artists and iconography in the Mediterranean area. In the bilingual Greek-Latin Hamilton Psalter, copied in Constantinople ca. 1300 and circulated in Cyprus, cross-cultural contact is realized through the collaboration of decorators and scribes of different provenance. Two quires added to the Psalter, contain excerpts from Brunetto Latini’s Tresor, a text that circulated widely both in the West and in the Latin East.

Abstract
Two quires added to the Psalter, contain excerpts from Brunetto Latini’s Tresor, a text that circulated widely both in the West and in the Latin East.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
