Despite the demand for a paradigm shift in bioethics has been reiterated over the years (Murphy, 2015; Wilson, White, Jefferson, 2019), this field of research has effectively proven itself as resistant to transformation. Indeed, bioethics still appears as a cis- and heteronormative discipline, for which an intersectional critical investigation would be essential. Among the world famous ‘Pillars’ (the principles of autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice), justice has been oftentimes overlooked, by this undermining the potential bioethics’ inclusive nature. Assuming an intersectional and queer perspective became even more urgent after the pandemics (Ray, Fletcher, Martschenko, 2023, 255), which has thoroughly shown bioethical failures in considering (and granting) social justice beyond theoretical frameworks. Questioning bioethics through a justice-oriented and intersectional approach is therefore essential (Sudenkaarne, 2021; Brünig, Salloch, 2022), either for the sake of the discipline and for its social, ethical, and legal impacts on persons.
