Ernoul’s Chronique and its Continuation by Guillaume de Tyr were among the most widely circulated Crusade narratives of the Middle Ages. The Continuation was heavily reworked in the lengthy editions produced in the Latin West. We examine the structures and ideology of Crusade narratives, first through a reading of the first part of the Chronique, and then through a comparative analysis of the key episodes from the various editions.

Abstract
Ernoul’s Chronique and its Continuation by Guillaume de Tyr were among the most widely circulated Crusade narratives of the Middle Ages. The Continuation was heavily reworked in the lengthy editions produced in the Latin West. We examine the structures and ideology of Crusade narratives, first through a reading of the first part of the Chronique, and then through a comparative analysis of the key episodes from the various editions.File in questo prodotto:
