L'istituto per rachitici di Milano: spazi educativi ed arredi scolastici

In 1875 Gaetano Pini founded in Milan the Institute for Rickets, aimed at the care and education of children with bone deformities. In the project, an expression of a union between education and medicine, attention was paid to the organization of spaces in order to ensure healthy environments, in compliance with hygiene standards. The doctor had also designed a school desk with precise characteristics: of variable size and with the slightly inclined top, it was adaptable to the different stature of children. It is one of the cases where the orthopedagogy is applicable, with advantage, to the able-bodied.
