By relating Anglicisms to youth language, the aim is to highlight the capacity for lexical and expressive innovation that specifically characterizes this sociolinguistic variety, which in this study is specified to be the European diatopic variety, since the European Spanish version of the dubbing and subtitles of two Netflix television series is analyzed: Los rompecorazones and ¡Qué susto, tía!, whose original titles are, respectively, Heartbreak High and Boo, Bitch, both made and broadcast in 2022. The ultimate objective of this study is to determine whether the Anglicisms used in the dubbing and subtitles of the series analyzed contribute to the characterization of the youth language used in them. The analysis to be carried out on the anglicisms in the corpus will be quantitative and qualitative. In order to do so, we will specify whether they are anglicized or not: (i) it will be specified whether they are adapted or raw anglicisms, (ii) check whether they are registered in two dictionaries: the Diccionario de la lengua española (DLE) of the RAE/ASALE and the Diccionario del español actual (DEA) of Seco/Andrés/Ramos, (iii) will be related to the linguistic area of specialization, and it will also be verified and (iv) we will also verify whether the anglicisms of the corpus are catalogued in the Diccionario del léxico juvenil en España (DLJE) by Regueiro Rodríguez published in 2023, which will constitute an argument for or against the contribution of anglicisms in the characterization of the youth language of European Spanish.
