The AI Act Proposal contains some specific provisions dealing with the possible use of artificial intel-ligence for discriminatory purposes or in discriminatory ways in the context of the European Union. The chapter focuses on these provisions, analysing them in the context of European anti-discrimination legislation and considering how they relate to this established set of rules. The exam-ination is conducted with particular regard to generative artificial intelligence, its main applications and the problems it raises: from the possible amplification of the discriminatory effects and impacts of certain practices, to the possible remedies that can be identified, both in the law and in the mar-kets. In conclusion, a sceptical position is expressed on the need to introduce new specific rules, in addition to those already existing, to address a phenomenon that, although new, may already be covered by the rules already in force.
