Starting from the recent academic interest towards the autobiographies of Italian actresses, at the crossroads between the studies on female autobiographies and the Stardom Studies, this essay aims to analyze Antonella Lualdi’s autobiography as a case study. Through an analysis of the text (and excluding in this instance her on-screen presence) we will try to demonstrate how Lualdi, an actress considered ‘minor’ within the Italian film scene and overshadowed by the figure of her husband and colleague Franco Interlenghi, has used autobiographical writing to assert herself and legitimize the successes of her career.

Abstract
Starting from the recent academic interest towards the autobiographies of Italian actresses, at the crossroads between the studies on female autobiographies and the Stardom Studies, this essay aims to analyze Antonella Lualdi’s autobiography as a case study. Through an analysis of the text (and excluding in this instance her on-screen presence) we will try to demonstrate how Lualdi, an actress considered ‘minor’ within the Italian film scene and overshadowed by the figure of her husband and colleague Franco Interlenghi, has used autobiographical writing to assert herself and legitimize the successes of her career.File in questo prodotto:
