This paper examines the emergence and role of agitators in Albania during the first two decades of Communist Party rule. Agitators played a crucial role in shaping public consensus and disseminating the party’s ideology, particularly during the consolidation of other instruments of power. This study seeks to identify who the agitators were, outline their mission, and analyze their functions and actions. It addresses the following questions: Why did the role of agitators expand in the 1950s and decline in the latter half of the 1960s? What was their legacy?
