The essay analyses two of the many contemporary re-presentations of The Rite of Spring using the concepts of body-archive and musical gesture developed within the most recent dance studies. The author’s attention is focused, in this context, on two emblematic works: Right by Carlo Massari and The Rite of Spring of One on one by Mara Oscar Cassiani, starting from a guiding question: what makes the Sacre, in the course of a history that has lasted for over a hundred years, so attractive and challenging as to generate uninterrupted remakes, reenactments, remediations, reconstructions, reinventions by choreographers coming from the most disparate backgrounds and the most diverse and distant styles?
