This essay explores corporate crime, starting with the provocative proposal to introduce the crime of “operaicidio” for work-related deaths and injuries into our legal system. Drawing on Edwin Sutherland's contribution to white-collar crime, the essay provides an overview of the areas of study and the main theoretical approaches that have been developed on the subject of corporate crime. The adoption of a critical perspective in the analysis of corporate crime victimisation allows the structural determinants to emerge and reveals the violence inherent in the behaviour analysed.
