Article 159(2)c) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 formally acknowledges Kenyans' most common and preferred ways of resolving disputes. This is not the court system, but rather alternative justice systems. Courts and tribunals are mandated to promote them. There is a National Alternative Justice Systems Steering Committee that is seeing to the fulfilment of this. This chapter proposes that the said Steering Committee could strengthen implementation by considering ways the Alternative Justice Typologies could tackle climate change related disputes occurring in northern Kenya, particularly pastoral violence. The chapter proposes that the said Steering Committee could utilise a co-production process which Norström et al have extrapolated so as to generate an effective, holistic, approach. The co-production principles considered are context, pluralism, goal-orientedness and interactivity. There is therefore an elaboration of how each of these principles could be utilised in the context of resolving pastoral violence in North Kenya.
