The article analyses the main results of a longitudinal study on relational forms inspired by the theory and practice of polyamory in Italy. Adopting a queer epistemological perspective, I highlight how the polyamorous discourse aligns and can partly contribute to the denaturalization of certain binarisms (Homosexual/Heterosexual; Man/Woman) that are foundational to sexual identity in the dominant order and of normativities that regulate the social recognition of meaningful relationships. While acknowledging its political limitations, the article also highlights the contribution of other activisms to polyamorous discourse, steering it toward a more critical and (self)reflective direction.
