Reflexion über Übersetzung und Adaption von deutschsprachigen historischen Korpora für ein italienisches Laienpublikum / Reflection on the translation and adaptation of German-language historical corpora for an Italian lay audience

The article shows how oral data from German narrative biographical interviews can be translated and adapted for an Italian lay audience and for learners of German language without losing important parts of the content and linguistic style. Particular attention will be paid to the process and methodology used to select the relevant parts of the interviews, their translation and the adaptation strategies for Italian audience. In the course of the analysis, an example will be used to show what kind of adaptation is necessary for this text type and what simplification strategies can result from this for the creation of texts for the website. The central question is therefore: What remains in the Italian target text of a spoken German narrative interview, which is first transcribed, then translated and finally adapted for an Italian website, and how can the individual voices of the interviewees be preserved in this process (cf. Thüne 2023; Cinato in press).
