Lo stile del potere. Incontri e contaminazioni fra diplomazia e politica nell'Italia del lungo Quattrocento

The aim of the essay is to verify the existence of crossings and interferences between Italian diplomatic practices (complex and diversified in themselves) and European powers in the long fifteenth century that starts from the middle of the fourteenth century and reaches the first decades of the sixteenth century. A series of clues about such crossings emerge when observing public rituals and negotiating and cultural practices with an eye more attentive to mutual contaminations than to univocal models. Some interesting and reciprocal interferences are indeed to be found in collective and individual aspects of daily diplomatic practice. Case-studies and examples from the principalities of central-northern Italy will be taken into account in a broader peninsular perspective.
