After the decline experienced in the second half of the XX century, over the last two decades the interest for the chestnut culture is increasing, not only in the traditional range of its extension but also in new regions where plantations have recently been established. The purpose of this paper is to present a possible way to manage, according to the principles of sustainability, traditional plantations and new orchards. To allow proper valorisation and improvement of quality nut produce, the main management techniques are described.

Abstract
