This paper examines electoral behaviour in Turin between 1972 and 1987 on a sub- municipal scale, highlighting the transition from Fordism to post-Fordism. During the Fordist era, Turin became Italy's industrial capital, centred around factories and characterized by strong working-class concentrations in specific urban neighbourhoods. The shift towards post-Fordism brought substantial economic, urban, and social changes, such as peri-urbanization and the abandonment of industrial sites. The study highlights the enduring territorial roots of communist voting in economically disadvantaged areas, despite a gradual electoral decline in the late 1980s.

Abstract
This paper examines electoral behaviour in Turin between 1972 and 1987 on a sub- municipal scale, highlighting the transition from Fordism to post-Fordism. During the Fordist era, Turin became Italy's industrial capital, centred around factories and characterized by strong working-class concentrations in specific urban neighbourhoods. The shift towards post-Fordism brought substantial economic, urban, and social changes, such as peri-urbanization and the abandonment of industrial sites. The study highlights the enduring territorial roots of communist voting in economically disadvantaged areas, despite a gradual electoral decline in the late 1980s.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
