Philosopher and socialist activist Cornelius Castoriadis worked for the OEEC and later for the OECD between 1948 and 1970. As director of Statistics, National Accounts, and Growth Studies, he coordinated the official report "The Growth of Output 1960-1980: Retrospect, Prospect and Problems Of Policy." We offer a synthesis of the most original elements of this report, mostly taken from its introduction and its conclusion, in order to shed light on the organization's receptiveness to the intellectual debates of that time. In the context of the success of growth regulation policies, the report highlights social issues and insists on the necessity of developing alternative indicators. These social concerns have been present in Castoriadis's writings since the 1950s.
