The volume explores the tattoo collection of the Cesare Lombroso Museum of Criminal Anthropology at the University of Turin, assembled by the criminologist beginning in the 1870s and consisting of drawings and photographs, casts and portions of tattooed skin from various sources. The collection has been investigated from the perspective of the history of science, art history, cultural and gender history, as well as the ethical and legal issues related to the museum exhibition of this particular art form. In fact, a new 3D station has been set up in the Lombroso Museum visitor route, dedicated to the collection, whose technical characteristics are explained in the text.
