Abu Mina was one of the main pilgrimage centres of Late Antiquity, established near the tomb of the martyr Menas, in the Mareotis region, not far from Alexandria in Egypt. A collection of miracles attributed to the saint, preserved in several languages, is associated with this renowned sanctuary. This paper analyzes the thirteen miracles transmitted in Greek (BHG 1256–1269), with particular attention to the accounts of miraculous healings from illness. For the sake of completeness, the study also considers the collection of miracles attributed to another saint of the same name, Menas known as the καλλικέλαδος (BHG 1254m), who is likely identifiable with the former and whose cult developed in the Constantinopolitan context from the ninth century onwards.

Abstract
Abu Mina was one of the main pilgrimage centres of Late Antiquity, established near the tomb of the martyr Menas, in the Mareotis region, not far from Alexandria in Egypt. A collection of miracles attributed to the saint, preserved in several languages, is associated with this renowned sanctuary. This paper analyzes the thirteen miracles transmitted in Greek (BHG 1256–1269), with particular attention to the accounts of miraculous healings from illness. For the sake of completeness, the study also considers the collection of miracles attributed to another saint of the same name, Menas known as the καλλικέλαδος (BHG 1254m), who is likely identifiable with the former and whose cult developed in the Constantinopolitan context from the ninth century onwards.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
