This essay traces the history of the Laboratory of Political Economy, from its foundation in 1893 until after World War II, through the diverse documents that preserve its memory. In addition to sources from the Economics and Statistics Section "Cognetti de Martiis" of the Bobbio Library at the University of Turin, sources from the Historical Archive of the same university, the Luigi Einaudi Foundation in Turin and the archives of the heirs of S. Cognetti de Martiis were also used.
