This chapter provides a comprehensive review of the synthesis of chiral organocatalysts. The objective is to equip the reader with the necessary tools to evaluate the synthetic methodologies applied from the perspective of green chemistry. To provide readers with an understanding of the impact of the synthetic process on the target catalyst, a mass-based metric, such as the E factor, was calculated for selected examples. The organocatalysts analyzed will be divided based on the classification of List and Maruoka, with two paragraphs dedicated to hydrogen bonds and chiral phase transfer catalysts.
