Today, we extensively utilize advanced technologies and techniques in the resection of intra-axial tumors. In this chapter, we explore the importance of new technologies advances such awake surgery performed in conjunction with intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring and intraoperative neuropsychological testing. These techniques enable the real-time assessment of cognitive and motor functions, allowing for the mapping of their location on the cortical surface and the preservation of their integrity during the resection of gliomas. Additionally, we examine the role of neuronavigation and neuronavigated 3D tractography in visualizing critical white matter tracts. Given that a larger extent of resection is associated with better survival rates, we also discuss the significance of intraoperative imaging in optimizing the resection rate.
