As at least some important hermeneutical texts of Gadamer seem to suggest, his hermeneutic is rooted in the idea that interpretation, as a central quality of human experience, has an “improvisational” character. Pareyson’s aesthetic theory, which, arguably, is a philosophy of art as improvisation, emphasizes the primarily interpretive character of the formativity of artistic making. Discussing these aspects of Gadamer’s and Pareyson’s thought not only shows that Gadamer’s and Pareyson’s hermeneutics are philosophically relevant to improvisational practices, but also allows an interesting light to be shed on hermeneutics from the perspective of improvisational practices.

Abstract
As at least some important hermeneutical texts of Gadamer seem to suggest, his hermeneutic is rooted in the idea that interpretation, as a central quality of human experience, has an “improvisational” character. Pareyson’s aesthetic theory, which, arguably, is a philosophy of art as improvisation, emphasizes the primarily interpretive character of the formativity of artistic making. Discussing these aspects of Gadamer’s and Pareyson’s thought not only shows that Gadamer’s and Pareyson’s hermeneutics are philosophically relevant to improvisational practices, but also allows an interesting light to be shed on hermeneutics from the perspective of improvisational practices.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
