The area of Tulūl al-Baqarat is formed by ten mounds of different sizes and periods, spread over an area of approximately five square kilometers, 180 km south-east of Baghdad. After the Iraqis and then Italian excavation, for the main mound of the area, called TB1, has been proposed its identification with the ancient cultual centre of Keš.
