The femicide of Giulia Cecchettin, which occurred on November 11, 2023, gen-erated a strong media response and a subsequent wave of digital violence, fuelled by misogynistic content, distorted use of AI, and dynamics of secondary victimization. In this paper, the author analyzes these phenomena, their connection to pop culture, and proposes a model of critical digital literacy to counter the normalization of violence in contemporary media environments.

Abstract

The femicide of Giulia Cecchettin, which occurred on November 11, 2023, gen-erated a strong media response and a subsequent wave of digital violence, fuelled by misogynistic content, distorted use of AI, and dynamics of secondary victimization.
