Coesione sociale, obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile e finanza pubblica: profili di diritto internazionale

This article examines the role of sustainable public finance in the context of the persistent difficulties in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their close connection with the maintenance of social cohesion. Starting from the recognition of the insufficiency of the progress achieved to date and the growing financial needs required to attain the objectives of the 2030 Agenda, the article explores the possibility of rethinking public finance – particularly sovereign debt manage-ment – as a strategic lever for shaping development policies. From this perspective, the article focuses on the role of international law in providing the normative frameworks and principles necessary to legitimize and guide the use of sovereign sustainable bonds by States.
