In contemporary mediaspheres, attention has become a scarce and strategic resource, shaped by increasingly intense competition among various technological, economic, and cultural actors. Moving beyond its traditional understanding as an individual cognitive function, we draw on relevant literature to emphasize its relational and semio–ethical dimension. Furthermore, we examine the relations between attention and the veridictory processes at work in digital media, devoting particular attention to the emergence of “post/pre–truth” conditions. Therefore, we insist on the importance of adopting an “ecological approach” to attention, understood as a form of “care for meaning” that involves rethinking both media environments and collective interpretative practices.

Abstract
In contemporary mediaspheres, attention has become a scarce and strategic resource, shaped by increasingly intense competition among various technological, economic, and cultural actors. Moving beyond its traditional understanding as an individual cognitive function, we draw on relevant literature to emphasize its relational and semio–ethical dimension. Furthermore, we examine the relations between attention and the veridictory processes at work in digital media, devoting particular attention to the emergence of “post/pre–truth” conditions. Therefore, we insist on the importance of adopting an “ecological approach” to attention, understood as a form of “care for meaning” that involves rethinking both media environments and collective interpretative practices.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
