The role of time for the transgenerational civitas

In the first part of the paper, we offer a definition of the term “transgenerationality” and illustrate some of its manifestations in the social spheres. In the second part, we describe the structure of transgenerational acts and show why they play a fundamental role in the construction of social reality. By introducing transgenerational actions into the fundamental domain of social actions, we reflect on the rule of time in making societies enduring. A reconsideration of the meaning of time also leads us to rethink the concept of civitas and extend it to the three temporal dimensions: past, present, and future.
