The article compares two major migration imaginaries in Latin America: the historical migration from Europe to Argentina and contemporary migration across the U.S.–Mexico border. Through the analysis of literary, visual, and testimonial narratives, it examines the transformation of the border from a space of passage and integration into a site of exclusion, violence, and death. The study highlights how contemporary cultural production redefines migration through the lenses of memory, human rights, and resistance to necropolitical border regimes.

Abstract

The article compares two major migration imaginaries in Latin America: the historical migration from Europe to Argentina and contemporary migration across the U.S.–Mexico border. Through the analysis of literary, visual, and testimonial narratives, it examines the transformation of the border from a space of passage and integration into a site of exclusion, violence, and death. The study highlights how contemporary cultural production redefines migration through the lenses of memory, human rights, and resistance to necropolitical border regimes.
