In this article, I will investigate what intentionality amounts to, by considering its necessary and sufficient conditions. Doing so will enable me to show that intentionality has nothing to do with dispositions, contrary to some recent work challenging Brentano’s conception of intentionality as the mark of the mental. This point is something that a metaphysical investigation on the nature of intentionality should manage to confirm.
