This paper examines German construction es ist so, (dass), which is typical in spoken language. In the first part the construction is analysed intralinguistically, focusing exclusively on German and trying to define its morphosyntactic features and pragmatic functions; to this end, data from the FOLK-corpus of spoken German are used. As an interim conclusion, the question whether this construction can be traced back to one of the typical syntactic patterns found in literature is discussed. The second part of the paper adopts an interlinguistic perspective and explores which possible equivalents may be used in order to render this construction into Italian; here it is suggested that a parallel corpus of (at least originally) spoken language, such as Europarl, which is available on the platform Sketch Engine, be used for this purpose. Overall, this paper aims to contribute on the one hand to the studies of micro-structures of spoken language in German, and on the other hand to contrastive research of spoken language in German and Italian.

Abstract
Overall, this paper aims to contribute on the one hand to the studies of micro-structures of spoken language in German, and on the other hand to contrastive research of spoken language in German and Italian.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
