Sexual offending is a major concern in society and the focus of law reforms in many Western countries that have resulted in imposing harsher punishments without sufficient investment in treatment and prevention programmes. Cases of sexual child abuse and serious sexual attacks of women are widespread in the mass media, reinforcing a social punitive narrative, especially when cases led to injuries, long-term traumatisation, and death. Within such a climate of preoccupation, agencies for prevention, institutions for victims, and policy makers are particularly sensitive to intervene in this field of crime to try to make a difference.

Abstract
Sexual offending is a major concern in society and the focus of law reforms in many Western countries that have resulted in imposing harsher punishments without sufficient investment in treatment and prevention programmes. Cases of sexual child abuse and serious sexual attacks of women are widespread in the mass media, reinforcing a social punitive narrative, especially when cases led to injuries, long-term traumatisation, and death. Within such a climate of preoccupation, agencies for prevention, institutions for victims, and policy makers are particularly sensitive to intervene in this field of crime to try to make a difference.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
