L’oracolo di Delfi: considerazioni sulle procedure, i rischi e le modalità di consultazione

In this research, the procedures for consulting the Delphic oracle have been analysed using a modern taxonomy, which has enabled the examination of ancient sources on the basis of parameters unusual in some cases, or at least not suggested by the sources themselves. This has provided a framework to accentuate the lacunae and the probable discretionary nature of a significant portion of our documentation, particularly literary sources, while also enabling us to propose new and original arguments for the re-examination of oracular practices.
