In October 2024, a survey in hazelnut orchards in the Tarragona area (Spain) revealed 30% incidence of trunk diseases, with symptoms including branch dieback, wedge-shaped cankers, reddish conidia masses, and, in severe cases, branch breakage and plant death. Morphological and molecular characterization of fungal isolates identified Anthostoma decipiens and Neofusicoccum parvum as the causal agents. Pathogenicity of both species was confirmed on potted C. avellana plants (cv. Pauetet) following Koch's postulates. This is the first report of A. decipiens and N. parvum causing hazelnut trunk diseases in Spain.

Morphological and molecular characterization of fungal isolates identified Anthostoma decipiens and Neofusicoccum parvum as the causal agents. Pathogenicity of both species was confirmed on potted C. avellana plants (cv. Pauetet) following Koch's postulates. This is the first report of A. decipiens and N. parvum causing hazelnut trunk diseases in Spain.File in questo prodotto:
