This essay examines the contemporary compression of time under the combined pressures of technological acceleration and ecological crisis. Engaging thinkers such as Aurelio Peccei, Walter Benjamin, and Plotinus, it suggests that modern humanity no longer merely exploits resources but effectively consumes geological time itself. Such temporal overreach destabilizes the ontological horizon within which human action unfolds, giving rise to a diffuse form of ecological anxiety. Through readings of DeLillo, Auster, and Doctorow, the paper considers literary figures who attempt – symbolically and imperfectly – to arrest this entropic drift. It concludes by proposing repentance and temporal reversibility not as theological residues, but as conceptual resources for rethinking responsibility in an age of planetary fragility.

Abstract
It concludes by proposing repentance and temporal reversibility not as theological residues, but as conceptual resources for rethinking responsibility in an age of planetary fragility.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
