This article analyses the manuscripts written by Diego Ramirez de Arellano during the 1618-1619 expedition with the Nodal brothers, aiming to reconstruct their textual relationships and highlight their unique contribution to early modern nautical knowledge. Through philological and stylistic analysis, the study shows that manuscript BNE MSS/3019 served as preparatory material for BNE MSS/3190, and that both reflect different stages in the writing process. It also argues that these texts-intermittently crossed by emotion within a technical discourse-are among the earliest written records on the Selk'nam people.

Abstract
This article analyses the manuscripts written by Diego Ramirez de Arellano during the 1618-1619 expedition with the Nodal brothers, aiming to reconstruct their textual relationships and highlight their unique contribution to early modern nautical knowledge. Through philological and stylistic analysis, the study shows that manuscript BNE MSS/3019 served as preparatory material for BNE MSS/3190, and that both reflect different stages in the writing process. It also argues that these texts-intermittently crossed by emotion within a technical discourse-are among the earliest written records on the Selk'nam people.File in questo prodotto:
