This paper explores a morphological topic that bridges empirical and descriptive perspectives in order to assess the productivity of deonomastic constituents in contemporary German. Fleischer/Barz (2012) classify formations such as Prahlhans, Heulsuse, Suppenkaspar, and Zappelphilipp as long established, and regard the pattern based on the desemanticization of the onymic second constituent as productive, including occasional coinages like Filmfritze and Pfeifenheini. The present exploratory study focuses on compounds formed with the personal suffixoide -peter (e.g. Miesepeter) in the German Web corpus German Trends (Sketch Engine). The aim is to evaluate its productivity and to analyse its semantic and pragmatic properties. After a theoretical overview of deonomastic augmentation, the study reviews the lexicographic treatment of Peter/-peter, presents the dataset and methodology, and discusses the main empirical findings.
