Catalogo ragionato dei ragni (Arachnida, Araneae) del Piemonte e della Lombardia

Catalogue of spider species of Piemonte and Lombardia (NW-Italy) with twelve new records for Italian fauna. The work here presented summarizes the current knowledge of the araneofauna of Piemonte and Lombardia, derived from literature data and unpublished material. At the moment 546 species and 5 sub-species belonging to 169 genera and 43 families are known for Piemonte and 679 species and 7 sub-species, 250 genera and 39 families are known for Lombardia. 12 species are recorded for the first time in Italy, 38 are new for Piedmont and 103 for Lombardia. Considering the total number of species (797) recorded at least in one of the two regions, the fauna of Piemonte and Lombardia represents more than 50% of the Italian fauna. The catalogue provides information on the province where species have been recorded, literature data, corology, and information on hunting strategies, autoecology and habitat preferences.
