This book presents an overview of techniques for modeling and evaluating the performance of multiprocessors. The emphasis is on analytical techniques for analyzing competition for physical resources such as shared devices, interconnection networks and and busses. To make the book self-contained, a first methodological part is devoted to the discussion of the modelling techniques used throughout the rest of the book. The second part addresses the specific topic of the evaluation of the efficiency of multiprocessor systems, basing most of the analysis on recent research work done by the authors.

Abstract

This book presents an overview of techniques for modeling and evaluating the performance of multiprocessors. The emphasis is on analytical techniques for analyzing competition for physical resources such as shared devices, interconnection networks and and busses. To make the book self-contained, a first methodological part is devoted to the discussion of the modelling techniques used throughout the rest of the book. The second part addresses the specific topic of the evaluation of the efficiency of multiprocessor systems, basing most of the analysis on recent research work done by the authors.
