Abstract

The authors describe the epidemiology of theileriosis in Zambia, after an introduction on the negative effects of tick-borne diseases (TBD). Field experiences in the control of the disease are presented and discussed, with special reference to the traditional cattle sector. Some considerations on the integrated TBD packege are made and the main implications of this approach are made. An appendix descibes the main methods for control of ticks and TBD in Africa, along with a selected bibliography on epidemiology and control of theileriosis.
